Consular Process Interviews
Very often, we are asked to handle the last phase of an immigration phase which is called consular processing. It is a complicated part of the case but one that we are very familiar with. We have handled it for over 30 years. Consular processing refers to the phase of a case where an individual who is abroad goes for the final stage of their interview. They go to the US embassy and they process there for their final paperwork. It is not a green card appointment, it is an immigrant visa appointment.

There are two scenarios where people will deal with the US embassy abroad: one is if people are residing abroad, that’s the only place, the US embassy, where they can interview. The other scenario is if people are residing in the US but they are not permitted to adjust their status here and they are the beneficiary of an approved 601 waiver and therefore they travel to their home country and interview at their own embassy.
