Morristown Immigration Attorney Discusses Loss of Citizenship from Moving Abroad
I was recently asked as a Morristown Immigration Attorney about losing your Green Card because they had to stay outside of the U.S. for over 6 months because of a sick parent. When you have a green card there is a residence requirement. The residency requirement is that you cannot live outside of the US for more than one year without getting special permission. I advise clients as a Morristown Immigration Attorney that sometimes when you stay outside for over six months, the inspectors at the airport may give you a hard time because they may suspect you aren’t maintaining your lawful permanent residence status.
