New Jersey Immigration Lawyer Discusses Working During a Pending Adjustment Application
A very common question that I get as a New Jersey Immigration Lawyer has to do with working in the US while your adjustment application is pending. When your application for adjustment of status is pending, after a period of approximately 60 days you are usually issued a work permit. This is called an Employment Authorization Document or an EAD. People take the work permit to the Social Security Office and they will get a real Social Security Number. They can take their work permit and Social Security Number to the DMV and get a driver’s license. I advise clients as a New Jersey Immigration Lawyer that with these documents you can definitely go out and look for a job and be legally employed.
